Year 9 and 10 Visit Canberra

parks and beaches

On Monday the 13th of August, six Year 9/10 Hope School students along with Mrs Power, Mr Sutton and Miss Bain left Coolangatta airport for Canberra and the snow fields of Perisher. This was a first for some of our students as they had never flown in a plane before. We had to catch two planes to arrive at our destination.

After landing we had to pick up our bus which would be our transport for the next four days. While in Canberra we visited Parliament House for the first afternoon. We then drove to Vikas Lodge in Jindabyne. Tuesday was another day of firsts for many of our students as we made snow men, had snowball fights, rode the chairlift and had toboggan races.

Wednesday saw us heading back to Canberra to visit the War Memorial and Questacon where we all learnt a lot about Australia’s involvement in the wars and chemical reactions.

On Thursday after a walk around Lake Burley Griffin we headed back to the airport to head for home via Sydney.

The students when asked what the best part of the trip was said the snow and the food. It was a fantastic adventure which was enjoyed by all!
